WORKFORCE INFRASTRUCTURE · LAST-MILE ECONOMY

The workforce infrastructure behind reliable delivery.

Digisphere recruits, trains, formally employs, and manages South Africa's delivery riders and fleets — one accountable partner, not a marketplace of contractors.

THE PROBLEM

Delivery runs on labor no one is fully accountable for.

Recruiting riders, training them, keeping bikes roadworthy, and managing performance is split across recruiters, fleet suppliers, software vendors, and the enterprise itself. When something breaks, no single partner owns the fix.

Fragmented recruitment

Riders sourced with no consistent vetting standard, and no single party accountable for who's actually on the road.

Root cause

Rider-financed vehicles

When riders finance and maintain their own bikes, breakdowns become income loss — and income loss becomes churn.

Economics, not effort

Compliance risk climbs

Contractor-model workforces carry growing regulatory and reputational exposure — no longer a background risk.

THE DIGISPHERE MODEL

One accountable relationship across the whole workforce lifecycle.

Recruitment, training, employment, fleet, maintenance, compliance, and performance — one system, so the enterprise buys a reliable workforce outcome, not five separate vendors.

1

Source

Recruit and vet South African riders against a defined safety and reliability standard.

2

Prepare

Licensing, safety, and delivery-specific readiness through the Rider Academy.

3

Deploy

Formal employment, company-owned motorcycle, onboarding into live operations.

4

Operate

Day-to-day fleet and workforce management, dispatch support, performance oversight.

5

Maintain

Scheduled servicing and compliance checks that keep bikes on the road.

6

Measure

SLA and performance reporting back to the enterprise client.

7

Improve

Feedback loops that raise retention, safety, and service reliability over time.

The founder has operated the recruitment, employment, and fleet-management parts of this model directly. Scoto — the software to run it end-to-end — is in active development; today's operations are founder-led, not yet automated.
WHAT WE DO

Three capabilities. One accountable system.

No single piece is defensible alone — the integration is the point. A recruiter without employment authority, or a trainer without a placement path, only solves part of the problem.

Recruitment

We source and vet South African riders against safety, compliance, and reliability standards — before they're ever on the road.

01 · Source

Training

The Rider Academy: licensing support, food safety, customer service, motorcycle safety, and delivery-specific readiness.

02 · Prepare

Management

Formal employment, company-owned fleet, day-to-day operations, and enterprise-grade SLA reporting — one relationship, full lifecycle.

03 · Operate
THE WORKFORCE BEHIND THE MODEL

Every part of this model exists to put one reliable rider on the road — formally employed, properly equipped.

RIDER ACADEMY

Training that leads to a job, not just a certificate.

Delivery work looks accessible, but isn't low-cost to enter — a licence, riding competence, and a compliant motorcycle are real barriers. The Academy is built so training leads directly into formal employment, not just a certificate.

The Academy is launching now. This is the pipeline design — a start, not yet a track record at scale.
THE PATHWAY
Candidate Work readiness Learner's licence Driver's licence Delivery readiness Placement
  • Licence support: Learner's and Driver's licence
  • Food safety, customer service, defensive riding
  • Formal salary and benefits from day one
  • A path toward trainer and hub-supervisor roles
OPERATIONS

Owning the workforce and the fleet, together.

Digisphere owns and finances the vehicle, fuel, insurance, and servicing as a company cost — riders get a formal salary, not gross-minus-costs contractor pay. Owning both the employment relationship and the asset is what makes it reliable.

  • Company-owned, company-maintained motorcycles
  • Scheduled maintenance discipline, not reactive repair
  • Formal employment: salary, UIF, medical, funeral cover
  • SLA and performance reporting to the enterprise client

TRANSFORMATION

Youth employment isn't a side program. It's the operating model.

Formal employment and B-BBEE-aligned structuring reinforce performance, not a separate CSR story — the same rider counted for transformation outcomes is the rider running the client's delivery.

Youth employment

A structured pipeline into formal jobs, not gig work — recruitment, training, certification, and employment in one path.

Compliance & B-BBEE

ESD/SED-aligned cost structuring built into the commercial model — independent BEE-consultant verification in progress.

Measurable outcomes

Employment, retention, and transformation reporting designed to sit alongside operational SLA reporting, not apart from it.

EXPERIENCE

Built by someone who has run this before.

Digisphere's model isn't theoretical — the founder has personally run this kind of workforce, at real scale, for a real enterprise client.

2015–16
Started as a rider. Founder Obakeng Dube began on the road, delivering for a major South African quick-service brand.
2017–18
Direct operational leadership. Moved into coordinating that brand's delivery operations, covering a substantial share of its national volume.
2018–20
Signed, delivered contract. Digisphere held an outsourced fleet-management SLA covering 10 restaurants — a real prior relationship, not a pilot.
2020
Ended on cost, not performance. Aggregator pricing undercut a dedicated fleet as COVID accelerated the shift. The current model exists to answer that.
2023–24
NPO rider training & fleet management. Delivered the same recruit-train-manage model for a South African NPO, outside McDonald's.
FOUNDER-LED, STATED HONESTLY

Real history. New conversation.

The McDonald's relationship is real operating history, independently confirmed by a signed SLA. Digisphere has since delivered fleet operations for other South African organizations. Current enterprise partnerships are still being built — this site starts that conversation, not one already concluded.

VISION

Toward the operating system of South Africa's last-mile economy.

Digisphere's long-term ambition is to become the layer every enterprise delivery operation runs on — workforce, fleet, compliance, and performance, in one system. That's the destination; what exists today is the operating model and track record above it.
